The Alliance of NYS YMCAs is excited to welcome Shonna Sargent as the new CEO of the Fulton YMCA.

Currently, Shonna is serving a second stint with the YMCA of Greater Louisville.

Prior to Louisville, Shonna served the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta (GA) for three years as both a Wellness Director and Program Director.  As Wellness Director (2011-2012), Shonna organized over 100 weekly group exercise classes and managed the annual review process for 70 employees. As Program Director (2012-2014), Shonna supervised 300 program volunteers and 35 part-time program staff annually; developed and maintained programming budgets for two branches; and organized youth education and wellness initiatives including day camps, holiday camps, and afterschool and sports programs.

In 2014, the YMCA of Greater Louisville rehired her as Senior Youth and Adult Program Director for its Northeast Family YMCA.  During her impressive tenure she prepared and monitored the annual budget for three summer camps and several sports programs with a combined revenue of $900K;  Increased youth participation in summer programming, surpassing budgeted revenue for summer camp enrollment by $53K ; and established the first Black Achievers and Swim Access program for at-risk children in 2016.  By 2017, participation increased in the Black Achievers and Swim Access programs from zero to 14 participants and from zero to 25 participants respectively.

In 2017, Shonna advanced to her current role within the Louisville association as Senior Program Director at the Northeast Family branch during which time she was also named Sports Cabinet Chair for the association.  She manages member data collection and analysis for all sports branches in the association.

Shonna earned a Master of Science degree in elementary education from State University of New York at Oswego and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from State University of New York at Cortland.
